Heroes of the Environment Book presented to new Olu of Ilaro, Oba Olugbenle
The book was presented to the new monarch when a team of Yewa (Egbado) College Old Students Association Prime Movers led by Mr. Tunde Olugbewesa visited the monarch in Ilaro to pay homage before his installation.
The book was presented by Mr. Tunde Akingbade, the author who is also an old student while speaking on the school’s immense contribution to educational development in Ilaro and Nigeria in general.
Akingbade also seized the opportunity to present an earlier work, his childhood memoir entitled; ILARO-Memories of Operation Wet E and Civil War Years noting that the book was inspired by his observation of Western Regional crises as a kid, the Nigerian Civil-War as well as the roles played by Ilaro indigenes during the war.
He specifically noted that Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka’s Ake-The Years of Childhood was also another source of inspiration for the book on ILARO.
Mr. Tunde Olugbewesa told the Oba that the old students came to show love and felicitate with the Oba on his installation because despite the fact that the Oba attended another school, when Yewa (Egbado) College celebrated its 60th anniversary last year, the Oba contributed to the huge success of the ceremony.
Oba Olugbenle thanked the Yewa (Egbado) College, Ilaro, Old Students Association, and urged them to count on him for the development of the school and the town. Others present during the visit are; Mr. Samuel Akinola, Mr. Kayode Akapo, Mr. Goriola Adeyinka, a former Principal, Mr. Niyi Dasaolu, Mr. Niyi Amusan, Mr. Biodun Fakorede and Mr. Femi Adeyemi.
