South African based Professor Kole Omotoso, author of “Just Before Dawn”, “Achebe or Soyinka-A study in contrasts,” “The Edifice” was a Special Guest on Saturday at Life House, Victoria Island, Lagos
Professor Kole Omotoso, the Nigerian-born author, dramatist and essayist featured at a book event and dialogue on Saturday at the Life House, Victoria Island, Lagos. It was a great event to meet the Professor who I had the privilege of interviewing in his car, the 504 Station wagon in 1987 on the preview of his book; “Just Before Dawn” published by Spectrum books, Ibadan. The last time we saw was about two decades ago. The dialogue session was very interesting and vintage Omotoso who during the terrible decay of the Military regime of those years turned the map of Nigeria upside down. I asked what he thinks of Nigeria’s map these days and the Professor gave another explosive answer. Its a must read in my new story coming out soon. Omotoso who speaks who has degrees in Arabic, French spoke on African leaders, past and present, Wole Soyinka, Babangida and SAP, Boko Haram etc. Don’t miss it.
